TRCN Nigeria: Registration, Portal, Result & PQE Guide

TRCN is the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, the federal body that registers teachers and runs the PQE (Professional Qualifying Examination). Registration, results and the exam portal all live on trcn.gov.ng, with candidate exam sign-up at teachers.trcn.gov.ng/cbt.

What TRCN does

TRCN registers qualified teachers in Nigeria and requires most of them to sit the PQE before full registration. Registration puts you into one of four categories by qualification:

Category APhD holders

Category BMaster's degree holders

Category CBachelor's degree or PGDE holders

Category DNCE holders

The PQE, briefly

The PQE is a computer-based test: 60 questions, 60 minutes, run in two diets a year — May and November. It covers five equal-weighted areas: Pedagogy, Literacy, Numeracy, ICT and Safeguarding (20% each). Full detail is on our exam timetable page and the free practice bank.

What is not yet published

TRCN has not published a flat fee table (only an interactive calculator on the registration page) and its own past-questions archive is still a placeholder. We say this plainly rather than guess — see each page's "verified" line for what is and is not confirmed.
